SWIM (or me, to more accurate) has decided to take LSD. I don't have any friends, so I'm left with no choice but to do it alone. If I take it I'll be doing it in my very cramped room and my family will likely be in the house at the time. I've heard this can lead to bad things (I'm far from mentally healthy), but I also heard doing it alone can help with understanding personnel issues and can result in a more positive attitude to life, which is what I'm hoping for.
So what can I do to keep myself from freaking out? How many hits do you think I should take? What kind of enviroment should I create for myself? I'd appreciate any advice you can give me.

I really wouldn't take it, you don't sound ready at all. If you take it and have a bad trip there is no going back man.
Having described your situation it doesn't sound as though you should take acid. Sorry.

Worth sort of mental issues? shizophrenia i would say stay away... meta is bi polar and has dropped over 70 hits iirc and he seems fine most of the time just bi polar...
i really wouldnt reccomend it given the circumstances...
no one to do it with, a bad mindset and a pretty bad setting.... thats like asking for a bad trip...
if you do it, i would start low, like 1 hit just to get your feet wet, and have plenty of booze or benzos to drown it out should things get bad...
try not to be around parents your first time with it, be able to go outside and wander around... acid is not something fun to do in a cramped room even in a pretty large house i feel confined and the fresh air outside is wonderful...
keep in mind that repressed feelings are probably going to come out of the woodwork and you might have to deal with them whether you want to or not... there is no going back for better or worse once its all said and done...

SWIM (or me, to more accurate)
Considering your multiple personality disorder, do you think this is wise?

10 hits sounds good for your first time also turn all the lights off and sit in silence and you will experience what only few have

Come on! You have to have at least one friend willing to do drugs with you. An LSD trip is a crazy introspective ride through all that is and you're going to embark alone? You need someone to talk to and can actually understand your views.
So you're a loner, I've gathered that. Take a buddy (i know you got at least 1) and plan an outdoor hike/canoe/camping trip. That will give you the right setting and enough time and serenity to be able to contemplate your own life. Day hike/canoe or throw a little overnight camping in there if you feel saucy.
If you're looking to escape your current reality and think about your life, do it on a clean slate out in nature. Being in a familiar room might bring up unwanted memories and believe us, introspective time travel [where you perceive yourself as you did when you were a child] is possible.

And if you're going to do it alone, at least be outside in a quiet and safe place.

You're full of shit. There's absolutely nothing wrong with doing psychedelics alone, I'd almost say I prefer it to taking them with anyone but this one good friend of mine, because they distract my thoughts. The best experience I've ever had with psychedelics was by myself.
To the OP, these conditions are text book bad conditions to take LSD in, mostly the fact that your parents will be only a few rooms away and that you have mental issues. I'd wait.

As was mentioned, I am bipolar and that never caused me any problems when tripping.
But in the op's case, I agree, don't do it.
Taking acid alone is ok, if you've done it enough to be comfortable by yourself. But if you've never even had anything like it before, doing it alone the first time is a bad idea. It's a bad idea if you're still fairly new to it too.

SWIM (or me, to more accurate) .
Why use SWIM (which is pointless no matter what) if you're saying them wor"me"?
But really, be ready before taking LSD, or any other psychedlics for that matter. You don't sound ready. But, if you have your mind set on taking it now, be in familiar and comfortable place. Your family might be good to have around incase of a bad trip, but make sure you have at least one famil member who also does drug/ is fine with you using drugs (for me that's my brother because he does drugs too). LSD and other phycs may worsen mental conditions or maybe even create a new condiotin (Syd Barrett is a good example of this. he's fucking awesome, though.) Just be careful

Good for you but I couldn't do that. Trip buddies are great. I'm sorry you have annoying friends.
the first time i tripped i was in my room. by myself and my mom was home at the time.
i took a shower as i came up and just smoked a bunch of weed in my room with some chill tunes on. had a great time. i've only taken acid 3-4 times and even taking only 1 hit for my first time compared to the multiple hits i took the other times i was tripping balls.
the visuals i got made it seemed like everything was a big puddle. i remember thinking that when i was tripping. the words on the computer screen seemed like they were running and falling off and it just seemed so ridiculous. the walls also seemed to start "dripping".
i say do it man.
If you are all scared and worried about having a bad trip you probably will. Read the LSD thread "set and setting" is very important.

This.
I love doing acid alone. It leaves me to my own thoughts, and doesn't wierd people out as much (I get really quiet on the stuff, because my head starts swimming in thoughts and ideas about a whole pile of shit). However, you basically listed all the things that could lead to a disaster.
1) Alone for first trip.
2) "Far from mentally healthy" (should be a HUGE deterrant)
3) Parents are home
4) Small cramped room
5) Never done any other psychedelics.....
Yeah. Definately don't do it. 2 and 5 are the biggest deterrants I think, and then 4 is pretty bad too... 1 and 3 are actually not huge factors but considering you have the other things to deal with it could definately add stress on top of those things.
Don't do it man.

So, I'm gonna wait until I'm the only one in the house so I can wonder around. So the parents and the cramped room won't be an issue anymore. The mental health thing, pff, the way I see it I have a 50/50 chance of a bad trip. I like my odds.

Much agreed rizzo.
ugh I'm never around anymore. When I was horribly depressed and barely knew where reality was(I was extremely disassociated for a couple months) I would do a couple hits alone and just watch some extremely retarded television and think to myself.
Keep something like a stupid ass television show running that you can zone into, and a pack of smokes if you're going to do it.
Thinking to yourself is the greatest part of LSD as with most psyches, but if it gets too much have a fall back that you can zone into.. to keep your mind from spinning at 4000mp/h in a hole of badness.
None the less, I wouldn't recommend doing it anyway based on your story, but if you're going to make sure you can focus on something you know to be real.

If you do decide to ingest some acid, an important thing to know beforehand is that if you are scared or skeptical about doing it, then the chances of a bad trip increase. The mood, enviroment of the surroundings your in, and the state of mind you are currently in well greatly contribute to the outcome of your trip. As for doseage, I would not reccomend more than two hits, becuase of the mental state that you described and the fact that you have never dealt with psychological drugs before.
IMO I do not believe that you are mentally nor physicaly ready for the experience that acid will give you.
