A couple friends of mine hook their xbox 360's to their laptops with an ethernet cable and bridge the connection between the LAN and wireless connections to play on live without purchasing a network adapter. I have been trying to get this to work, but whenever I test my connection it fails at the IP address stage. My computer also has an icon come up on the taskbar that says there is an IP address conflict on the network.

Does anyone know how I can remedy this? I really want to play online without shelling out another $100 to microsoft.

it still isn't working, whenever i bridge the connections my computer still comes up with a system error that says there's an ip conflict on my network. I am running windows xp and my wireless is working fine, so I don't know what to do.

Try using a crossover cable, that's what I use whenever I do that, and it works great.

1. you need a crossover cable, you can make one by rearranging the wires on the connector.

2. you are trying to use 192.168.0.1 twice, because of your wireless, you need to make your laptop 192.168.1.1
