http://www.psp-hacks.com/2009/01/03/poc-gripshift-savegame-exploit-found-works-on-psp-3000/

It's all in this link. PSP hacking has made a return to the old days of savegame exploits. A savegame buffer overflow vulnerability has been found in the game Gripshift. This allows hackers to write code that will be launched when loading a modified savegame file. This should allow for the installation of custom firmware on the PSP-3000 eventually, if I understand the article correctly.

wtf is a psp-3000?

The new brighter and smaller PSP.

I always wanted a PSP after I got burned with the DS,but I was waiting for a re-vised model. Now the re-vised model has fucked up stuff on the screen. Oh goody.

wait so its just like another psp? are the graphics/audio/interface/hardware any different?

And when you say brighter, do you mean as in its smarter, or literally brighter?

And is it a entirely new psp handheld, or just a firmware thing?

It's brighter, and there's some other changes.

I'm always content with my Phat though. I still <3 my Phat DS too. Nintendo/Sony will get no more of my money, fuckers.

I've been following this, apparently the hack does not allow access to the kernel, so there won't be a downgrader or custom firmware yet, but I'm sure a homebrew loader will be written soon, which is almost as good.

And yeah, I'm not really sure why the new PSP is that special, it doesn't seem all that different from the original Slim PSP, except the screen has noticeable scan lines or something.

I'm cool with my phat PSP

If this gets more people to buy GripShit, I'm all for it.

Mmm, it's okay ^_^ You see, I just bought a PSP JUST to hack it, and unfortunately my dad got me a 3000-3001 model >_>
Later I got my friend to buy a used PSP 1000, and believe it or not, there's a hugeeee difference between the two. ...PSP 3000 is much lighter (Obviously.) but the MOST noticeable desireable thing is the screen. The screen is much, much, much better... In every condition, in the dark, in the light, outside. It's ALOT more crisp, and much more defined. (It's kind of like putting an old T.V. next to a new plasma widescreen.)
You can't notice the scan lines at all, I had both side to side... The only difference between the 2000 model and the 3000... 3000's scan lines are horizontal, rather than vertical (Or it could be the other way around, I can't remember well.)
You're getting this from someone that's not even all that big when it comes to quality, but the screen in the 3000 is much more desireable (In my opinion at least) It was probably one of the only reasons I didn't want to switch mine with his, was the screen (He wanted it back after I homebrewed it for him.)
But overall, people really exagerrate the scanline issue on the PSP-3000 entirely. It's not that bad at all. The screen quality definitly makes up for whatever reason anyone pointed out. It's propoganda, I tell you.

Anyway, from the sounds of the case between the whole credit fraud situation between Dark Alex and the other fellah, it sounded like they had more in use with the Gripshift exploit than they actually displayed believe it or not? They wouldn't release it ASAP, because they don't want Sony finding a way around the homebrew community.

...It's just a possibility

Does the Pandora Battery work on the 3000? I can understand why a new way to hack the newer firmware would be news.

No, Sony did something to the way the new motherboard interfaces with the battery, and it makes it so a Pandora's Battery doesn't do anything. A new exploit is needed, and only excellent minds such as Dark_Alex seem to be able to find these exploits!

Seriously... DATEL tried to make a TOOL battery for the new PSP but epic failed.

Anyway... give it a few weeks and I'm sure Dark_Alex will make a downgrader/CFW installer for the new PSP-3000 with the GripShift exploit. Just nobody upgrade for the time being!
