My mom bought me a toaster oven for my dorm. I don't think I'm allowed to have one technically, but at this point, fuck them. It has settings to toast, bake, and broil. It's quite tiny too, can only fit two pieces of bread in it, next to each other. It's cute.
What are some things I can make here? I've basically got myself a tiny $10 oven. I was thinking about broiling meat, but if that smokes up the room, the smoke alarm will go off and they will discover my little treasure and take my baby away from me.

i made an awesome baked fish with two fillets of whiting, lemon and dill wrapped in a sheet of aluminium foil in the little combi oven
Anything you can cook in a regular oven you can pretty much cook in a toaster oven, with only the size consideration to fret over of course. My personal favorite is to bake small pizzas on pita bread - pita as the crust, add some marinara sauce with various seasonings mixed in, top with a few kinds of cheese, maybe some meat, wham! Good eats.

yeah the only thing i dont recommend is baking bread or anything sweet. usually they rise and get too close to the burner.
if youre worried about smoke, dont use stuff with lots of fats with low smoke points. usually its butter and fatty cuts of meat. though if your cooking them in a liquid, they should be alright. so you can make a braise
nachos will be fine too
if youre cooking in a dorm, just clean up well afterwards. the main reason they dont allow that stuff is because of cockroaches

Actually the main reason is risk of fire. Cockroaches are going to be in any old, large building regardless.

Yeah I was going to get some cheap frozen salmon or whiting fillets from Aldi's and try making one at a time in my toaster oven. So you did this on the bake setting? I imagine it won't take too long if I thaw the fish out first...didn't think of wrapping the filet in foil. I was just going to put it on the cooking sheet.

you dont have to wrap it in foil, but it is if you are cooking it with lemon or something. it just depends if you like dry or moist
I put hot dogs in my regular pop up toaster. It's almost like grilling them except not quite. I always hope that the little burn lines like on the grill will appear but every time I'm disappointed. They are good though....
