My friend told me he stole a check, washed it and wants to write his info on it.

Should he write his real name on it? Or make it out to cash?

What kind of place would he need to go to in order to cash it?

I would want to say make it out to cash, but you'd have to show them your ID anyways. In either case, they'd still know who cashed the stolen cheque

This has been done down here before, the cheque in question wasn't washed but rather stolen and an amount for $1000 was made out to cash.

I was told that the person went into a bank branch which the stolen cheques owner banked with and staff handed over the cash after asking to see his ID, which of course was false and wrote down his full name, that's it.

Yes write your name on it to cash it.

i hope you're not seriously considering using your own name. why don't you just walk over to the police station and turn yourself in. fake id + check cashing store ?
