(Before I start anytime I say I, I am referring to my friend SWIM)

I just scammed my grocery store and got $100!

So I am guessing nobody else has done this because it was almost an on the spot thing that could not have worked out more beautifully!

About 2 weeks ago I bought a prepaid debt card in hopes of doing some ATM scamming. I got some ladys ssn and shit though phone phishing and tried to use her info on the card. I put $220 on the card and used her address and snn to try to get a PIN. For some reason the card company needed more information for whatever reason. They asked me to send 2 other proofs of identification; photo of drivers license and a bill mailed to my address in my name.
This fucked me! They froze the account so nothing could be done, or so they said. I was still able to use the card as a credit card with the available $220 on it.

Today I went to the grocery store to buy a new prepaid cc using my existing one because the temporary one was about to get canceled and they were going to send a new customized one too the address I told them. I was hoping to buy either 2 $100 amex cards or 1 $200 dollar card, but for some reason there was no longer 220$ on my debt card.

THIS IS WHERE THE SCAM STARTS!

Swiped my original prepaid debt card and tried to pay for the cards but it would not go through. I told the cashier lady the card was not going through so I would like to only get one. So she rang me up for one $100 amex card. I was not sure if she deactivated the second one or not so I said I am going to go get a $75 card as well. I first made her verify which was the active one. (this is because she mixed the two up and they both looked the same) She had some guy come over and he looked at the receipt and gave me the activated one. I took the non-activated card back to the huge shelf of gift cards. Not being sure if she really deactivated the card I pocketed it. Then I saw they didn’t have a $75 dollar gift card so I got a $25 and $75. She rang them up and I walked out.

My total gift cards were 1 $25, 1 $50, 1 $100 gift cards all paid for. I also had 1 $100 card that I was not sure if it was activated. So I get into my car and open up all the cards. The first cards I checked were the $100 cards. Unfortunately only one card was activated. So instead of throwing out the non-activated card, I bring it back into the store with the activated cards box. I go over to the lady that helped me and said I just called up and it said the card was never activated. She took it over to customer service, and in the confusion of trying to pay for both, returning it and then buy one $100 card showing up all on the same receipt it just confusing everybody. The customer service rep told the cashier to get another card from the rack, she activated it and apologized and said good day!
In the end I made off with an extra $100 amex gift card and a smile on my face!

Good thinking on your part I guess, but I highly doubt those circumstances are repeatable.

Break it down a bit? Too much text to process there. Also, did you ever find a prepaid debit card that was anonymous?
Please elaborate.

Understanding that, high, is a huge undertaking.

i agree with FacId, it would be very hard to repeat, and it's not a very sure-fire scam, it relies on everyone working in the shop being stupid.

Your don't need the SWIM shit. Annoying, stupid, pointless.

But good job.

For those who can't understand from the semi-confusing description.

1) Go to store. Get 2 prepaid cards (visa, debit, amex, anything) of same value.

2) Have cashier ring both through. They will activate them right away.

3) Put one back. When putting it back, put it in your pocket without them noticing.

4) Walk out with card #1 paid for, and card #2 is a bonus.

I'm pretty sure this isn't what he meant.

What do you think he meant then?

And my previous post does work, sometimes.

It's not so much as it isn't what he said, but the way you phrased it makes it seem like you just paid for both.

And besides that, if I ever pay for one and say I don't want it anymore, they keep it behind the counter, not allow the customer to put it back.

If the cashier is a student/young, if you grab it and say "I'm putting it back" they'll let you.

What store if I may ask?

Walmart would likely work.

Zehrs / Loblaws.

I meant what store did the OP actually pull this off at. (And if Zehrs/Loblaws is the store my bad, I've never heard of either to be honest.

I think the OP originally started off talking about GreenDot cards or some shit. I've never bought one, but I'm pretty sure you don't have to provide any information for a prepaid VISA GIFT CARD.

I have a GreenDot card; federal law manadates that credit corporations obtain personal info, including Social Security numbers, to activate one of these cards.

Am I wrong when I say you don't provide any info when you purchase a VISA or MasterCard Gift Card?

I used to do something similar at Sheetz, WaWa, and the like with prepaid phone cards. I'd go in, grab a whole bunch of sodas, snacks, and other cheap shit, get a $75 Verizon card, and go to the counter. I'd hand over the card so that it would be rung up and activated first.

After they were done ringing up the other bullshit, I'd add on gas at pump whatever, and then write a bad check. :p

The bad check had three purposes:

1. To avoid having to tell the clerk I needed to put the card back.

2. To avoid having to actually pay for anything.

3. To ensure maximum confusion. Adding gas also helped with this.

By the time they were telling me my check was no good, the phone card was in my pocket, and they had already forgotten it. I'd walk out and leave all the shit on the counter, making extra sure it wouldn't enter their minds. This worked every time; a free $75 card to reload my prepaid phone.
