I think I have a good idea that can make some money. I work at a laser tag place. The laser tag arena has bright neon lights, a great sound system, fog machine, and all sorts of shit like that. It would be a fucking perfect place to have a rave at.
If I were to try to have a rave there, what would I need to take into consideration? I know I would need security a) inside the actual arena where the rave is taking place and b) at the front door. Anywhere else? How many should I have?
I've never actually been to a rave, but pretty much everyone does ectasy, so there's probably someone there selling it, right? Well then if I know who's selling it, I can either a) Kick them out or b) Have them give me a cut of what they're making to allow them to continue
I think this can be a very good idea, I just need some help thinking of everything that would need to be done.
you might want to suggest to the mods a party planning section and post this there.
Plan C with the ecstasy dealers would be to figure out who and where they are and towards the end of the rave have your security kick their asses, take their profits, and keep it.
Also, ten to one if the cops hear about an "underground" rave they'll be all over the place to try to bust people for drugs.

I've gone over the logistics of this ten times over. You'd also need to take out your own insurance, I'm assuming the company that owns the laser tag arena wouldn't want a rave happening under their liability. Then you have to consider the lighting. For it to be a kickass rave you need a lightshow projector. You also need a DJ, but you could probably get someone to do that for free, but then you don't always know if the DJ has their own stuff to play a show, so there's more possible costs. Then you have to think about your turn out and advertising.
Also, unless you find a way to keep it hush hush and still have people turn out for it, you'll have to work with the police, making sure you kick out absolutely anyone seen taking/dealing drugs out in the open. Anyone stupid enough to do this though should be taken out. They have bathroom stalls at raves for a reason...

How would insurance be handled? Who would I talk to? I'm absolutely clueless about that.
Lightshow Projector... where do I get one and how much?
DJ can be taken care of, security can be taken care of.
How would I approach the police to "work" with them so it doesn't get shut down? I might not even need to do that, the place isn't really close to anything else, and the stuff it is nearby will be closed.
Fate, good idea with having security beat the dealers and take money... really good idea. They might try to retaliate at a future rave though.

Do you plan on the management of your work letting you have a rave there ?
What happens if someone looses a few hits of some ecstasy on the floor, and a little kid gets their hands on it the next day. All kinds of law suits then.
Too much effort in a laser tag tent.
Have a rave in a field, preferably that belongs to you/your parents/your friend/the parents of one of your friends, whatever. With their permission you should be okay. Fuck the security. All the raves I've been to there's not been security. Generally people have the decency not to start trouble or break anything. Of course there's going to be people selling drugs, it's a fucking rave. You might as well try and empty a sinking boat using a tablespoon.

Insurance you could take out a night of extra coverage under the owner of the establishment, if they disagree though I dunno!
For a lightshow projector... the only place I'd know where to get one is from a rave-based crew in your area. There's a guy named techno todd in New England who provides a lot of lighting/sound for events, but in your area I have no clue.
Depending on the laws in your city, the police may require you to furnish a permit despite there being no one around. I know that's a bullshit law in some towns around here. Zoning/sound crap. W/o the permit your rave could be busted not for drugs, but for being too loud/not getting a permit to even hold one.
I'm telling you mean, life is really all about networking and knowing the right people.

I guess I could see why this would be a bad idea. After alot of thought though.

Yah... it would just be a whole lot easier to throw this thing off in the woods or something...

That's a fucking stupid idea bro.
The most important thing for a rave is people. Anything less than 100 will be a shit night.

As incredibly awesome as having a rave at a laser tag arena would be, I just don't see how you can pull that off. Unless you own it, which I'm fairly sure you don't, the management would never allow you to host this. There are too many liabilities and insurance reasons, let alone the fact that there will be rampant drug use there.
Raves = Drugs. No one does not know this, and I'm sure the management doesn't want arrests on their door. If you were to sneak it, which would be equally more impossible, you would have to be the only one in the entire place, somehow clean up after everyone, and this is all pending no police show up and make arrests. In which case you my good sir, are fucked. Both by the law and your management.

That's a laser light show, and is somewhat more difficult to setup due to the lazer requires programming (via computer, i think) not that some of the others dont require programming but lasers are more difficult from what I hear, lasers are the one thing I havent gotten into
