I posted this in COM, but I guess Mac users aren't a DIY kind of crowd.
I dropped my iPhone (not 3g) the other day and broke the screen. It's fully functional, but a tad ugly. I've already gotten a replacement, but don't know what to do with the old one. I'd love to hear your ideas of nifty things to do wiht it using the following:
An original iPhone (4gb)
Household tools
A very basic knowledge of electronics and computers
A $40 budget
And endless free time.

I'd love some suggestions and tips, and I'll post pics of whatever I end up doing.

I remember seeing a link on Digg where someone replaced their broken iphone screen w/ plexiglass...

edit: link from Internet Archive since the faggots at SA want to charge you $10 to view it: http://web.archive.org/web/20070928175338/http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=2629249

I already have a new one, but thanks for the link. I'm thinking maybe a way to make it into a mini tablet?

How broken is the screen? is there an image and just the glass is broken? If so, fix that and make a remote for your TV or home automation. There are projects out there about it
