You know, there are certain times where I just feel like yelling at LavaRed "Dude! We get it! You have cooler guns than us".

This is not one of those times, nice collection, sir.

Looks like a standard M16A1. Late sixties to early eighties.

Is it a finicky early one?

No, it doesn't jam, and it has the bolt forward assist. My guess is it was made between 1967 and 1970.
At any rate, it was pretty banged up outside, but the internals were brand new, unfired. There was no wear at all inside before we shot it, and very slight wear after.

No dude that is a M16. It is full auto. Lke he said it was from vietnam not a civ rifle. The ar15 sp1 was a SEMI ATUO rifle. What lavard has is a FULL AUTO select fire m16.

I have one of those too, which seems to be even earlier than the M16, since it is slabsided and lacks the forward bolt assist.
The M16 has the following on the side:

The Colt logo and COLT AR-15
PROPERTY OF U.S. GOVT.
M16A1
CAL 5.56 MM.
Serial No.

I don't know if it can be seen on the pics, but on high res pics you can see all of this, plus the 3 position selector switch, methinks.

Totally. But I wouldn't say no to fitting a CAR-15 (old style), to my M16 lower and bolt group.

Will your lower accept a CAR buffer tube and collapsable stock?

If the threads are the same as on the A1 lower, it will.

This is very true :(.

And I got this from my gun dealer, who also collects interesting firearms.
