View Full Version : Southern Baptist pedo conspiracy?

This was one of the most under-reported stories of the year 2008, according to Time magazine:

"The Southern Baptist Convention rejected a proposal to create a central database of staff and clergy who have been convicted or indicted for molesting minors."

SBs are well known for being, well, unevolved--some of them seem to think that Jesus spoke English, Adam and Eve rode dinosaurs to church, and that every word of the Bible is true. (In their defense, however, they probably never read the Book of Exodus.) Still, this seems a bit over the top.

Maybe they think that comps are tools of the devil--which seems probable, now that I think of it. Anyway, since SBs tend to be strongly anti-Catholic, it seems odd to me that they should try the same sort of cover-up that the Inquisitor Pope is trying to do away with.

Links please? This seems interesting. I don't know if Ted Haggard was a SB, but he was definitely of peculiar persuasion.

Original Time Magazine piece (http://www.time.com/time/specials/2008/top10/article/0,30583,1855948_1861760_1862212,00.html)

Facing calls to curb child sex abuse within its churches, in June the Southern Baptist Convention — the largest U.S. religious body after the Catholic Church — urged local hiring committees to conduct federal background checks but rejected a proposal to create a central database of staff and clergy who have been either convicted of or indicted on charges of molesting minors. The SBC decided against such a database in part because its principle of local autonomy means it cannot compel individual churches to report any information. And while the headlines regarding churches and pedophilia remain largely focused on Catholic parishes, the lack of hierarchical structure and systematized record-keeping in most Protestant churches makes it harder not only for church leaders to impose standards, but for interested parties to track allegations of abuse.

Emphases mine. The SBC is not trying to "cover up" any child abuse cases, much less is there any alarming number to report. It is just harder for them to enforce such a wide-sweeping action because, unlike the cake-eaters, there is no oligarchy with an octopus-like grip over individual congregations.

This story is bullshit. It has nothing to do with any new, undiscovered or covered up rash of molestations by Baptist clergy. It is just another Jew lie to make non-Papists look as culpable in the Catholic church's centuries-old tradition of pederasty.

There was an attempt nearly two years ago (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-religion/1788761/posts) to "expose" the notion of child abuse within the Baptist church. The SBC responded immediately (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-religion/1789648/posts) with the truth.

So, under your pretense, if I run a chain of stores specializing in beverages, and some of the stores serve the customers arsenic-laden drinks, it is not my responsibility to prosecute and monitor these actions, due to a perceived notion of difficulty? Utter rubbish..

Oh, but the icing on the cake is that instead of prosecution, they pray that every adherent church will "Take the necessary steps to prevent such abuse"

Utter rubbish...

Take one...

Tee hee.

Unrelated, but I've been meaning to ask: are you the same Ygg that has been posting on SF for several years?

As for the strained analogy, the SBC isn't a corporation like the Catholic church is. They simply don't have the authority or centralized hierarchy to institute a worldwide database of sex abuse cases that happen within Southern Baptist churches. I guess they're foolish enough to rely on individuals and families to monitor and report sex abuse cases, and on the criminal justice system to prosecute and keep track of them.

Alright, I see what they're getting at. Still, they could enforce stricter policy to make sure those dirt bag bastards don't get away with such heinous shit. Honestly, it seems like sloth on their part. Oops, that's a sin :p

Anyways, I think you meant SG, when you actually typed SF. Either way, I think you might have me mixed up. Who's the other Ygg? You mean ytter_man?

No, I meant SF: Stormfront. There's a Yggdrasil that's been posting there and other WN forums for many years.

Yeah, sloth is a sin of which they're guilty. Then again, gluttony is another one, and we've all seen some of those porkers.

Did you ever see "Jesus Camp"? Scary stuff, especially that sow with the oversprayed hair who brainwashes the kids in Bible Camp.

Naw, I'm not that Yggdrasil.

Anyways, I have seen Jesus Camp, and I cringe seeing those poor ignorant kids buying each and every word uttered by those bastards. Actually, I cringe every time I see little kids being whisked off for Sunday school or something as well. It's just absolute brainwashing. :(

What is worse:

A highly organized pedo ring.

A highly decentralized pedo ring.
