My niece had an in utero stroke (or so I'm told) she's now 2 years old. My (crazee) sister in law is talking about having another kid to harvest the umbilical cord blood to transplant to her. Saying that no one else's cord blood will work.

I've found out that there was a kid who had his own stored cord blood transplanted and is apparently cured however the medical community frowns on the private cord blood banks like the one that kid used.

So anybody know if she's full of crap and anyone's would work or is she actually telling the truth? Perhaps a private cord blood bank lied to her?
