View Full Version : Goddamn it I can't read manga anymore at Barnes & Noble

After about a month of spending up to 9 1/2 hours a day reading manga/graphic novels and never buying anything the goddamn manager(I think) decided that I'm not allowed to do that anymore. The conversation went something like this:
Manager:So I noticed that you (come in here?) (every day?) and spend hours and hours (just?) reading. Well you can't do that. By the time you're done reading I can't sell the book(probably meant the book cannot be sold while I'm reading it. Now, you're welcome to browse through the books, but you can't read them all the way through.
She said it in a polite tone and I only nodded like I usually do. After that I yelled at her "FUCK YOU, YOU GODDAMN NIGGER!" and flipped her off with both hands. Then I marched out of there and did the old Nazi salute along with a seig heil(this didn't happen, but it should have. Damn niggers not staying in their place).
Goddamn bastards!!! There's no fucking way I'm gonna pay for everything I read, FUCK YOU, that'd cost thousands of dollars. Darn, I hope posts like these won't hurt me in the future. I should've been more careful, someone who isn't used to old Tots culture could get the wrong idea. To demonstrate a point, WHITE POWER!!!

Comments?

LOL!!!

I love doing that. One of these days I'm going to start taking a digital camera and make copies.

1. Just steal it. B&N is a very easy place to take things from.
2. E-Books?
3. Go to a different B&N and read there.
4. Stop reading manga.

You can torrent most comics and manga these days. I'll only actually buy something if I'm pretty sure it's going to be completely fecking awesome.

Barnes and Noble makes me feel good when other places catch me stealing. I can always go there and make off with $60 in books inside of 10 minutes.

Go to Borders? I dunno.

No mate, I'm just a whore(or at least I like to imagine myself as someone who deals logically with everything). I got over the fear of being gay quite a while ago, I'm quite sure I'm not attracted to men, at least not sexually. Of course, when it comes to romantic attraction that doesn't really apply to me. People just can't compare to what my mind can create, *sigh*there's no one as interesting as many fictional characters(which is why I must destroy you all). BTW, I do believe that the average person reads 25% slower from a computer screen than from printed matter, reading books is easier on the eyes. Yes, I have fantasies of hyper-violent rampages and explosions running trough my mind. Pray that I never gain super-powers(It's a trick! Praying is a waste of time, you could use that time to do something that could actually stop him from gaining power(please due I, do you really thing I want to live?)).

This. Half of the 18-26 cohort leaves B&Ns without paying for anything.

... go to a library and get them for free, minus the bitching from managers.

Or better yet, die for reading manga. You're probably one of those pseudo-furries who live off their Ranma 1/2 fix.

There's nothing of value in most libraries.

He isn't looking to steal, he's looking for free reading. The only thing I generally go to B&N for is to spend money from gift cards and update my reading lists. Anything I want to read I can get just as easily through a library loan program.

Even manga. Bah.

I'm sorry, I was being far too vague; there is no reading material of intellectual or informational value on the north American continent that can be found in a public or university library.

Go back to B&N with a gun and shoot the place up

Seconded. The library/graphic novel section of most libraries contains lots of good stuff.

Besides, I'd prefer to hang out at a library than the coffeeshop at Barnes and Nobles. :p

Why don't you just pretend to be reading other non-manga books instead, while reading manga. Just hide the manga behind the cover of some other book. And go to that section and read it instead.

I tend to buy books that cannot be found online, or if they are really cheap.

I thought about stealing a few times but never had the guts to put it to action.

Barnes and Noble is a book store, not a library. They're not putting out all those books on display so little shits like you can read them for free. They don't get public funding. They need people to pay for the books so they can stay in business. If you want to read shitty manga for free, do it over the internet so the general public and the Barnes and Noble staff don't have to put up with you faggoty manga-readers in the store.

You're an idiot.

This, minus the harsh language.

OP: when you read one of their books, it's one less book on display to be viewed by potential buyers. Not to mention by reading them you could possibly damage the cover/pages. Also, while people are allowed to read the books, it's kind of understood that it has to be done within reason. You can't just go there, spend a whole day there reading all their books, which would lead to your not buying any of them, which they might not be too overjoyed about.
