I posted a thread a while back explaining how I crashed my car into a pole. And I was wondering if anyone knew how much it would cost to fix. The first quote I got was $6000- which I don't have and was a rough estimate. The guy told me he would get back to me for a proper quote. That was about a month ago.

Anyway, I finally found my camera charger and took some pics. I kind of got closer and closer, so I didn't have to explain exactly where the main damage was.

I don't care too much about the airbags, sensors and the door. I can do that. I just have no idea about that bar.

Please, if anyone can give me an estimate on the cost or anything, it would be exteremely helpful. I still owe $15000 on that car (Because of interest, and not having a job. Payed $14000 for it about a year or so ago).

As a VT or similar era commodore, its only worth maybe $10,000 max if its an immaculate one, so just get rid of it. Burn it or write it off or whatever. With broken suspension shit like that I would not be trusting the repairs to anyone other than a qualified repairer, or if I was doing it myself I'd be getting it very thoroughly looked over by an engineer or the rego inspector.

Where I'm at you couldn't get anywhere near $10,000. I rekon in the range of $6000 - $7000, in mint condition, is really stretching it over here. Report it stolen, then take it out the bush and strip any goodies off it then throw some petrol over the seats and strike a match.

It's a VX, and I would've taken it out and torched it IF I had it insured :( But I had to cancel the insurance because I needed the $1000 bucks to pay for rent. I've been stuck without a job for about 6 months now, and now my only form of transport (public transport limited where I live) is fucked, so my chances of getting a job now is also fucked.

I suppose I was looking for someone to just say magically "Hey you can get those parts cheap from any wreckers for like $150 and they are easy to put on yourself!" but sadly I don't think this is the case :(

I think if I sold it I would get around $3k for it. I WOULD do this to get a shitty car, but it's illegal to sell your car and use the money for something other than to pay off your loan. So I would still owe about $12k, and have nothing to show for it.

I reckon I could scrape up around $1000 - $1500 to fix it. Would this be enough? It just saddens me to think my car is completely screwed, just because of those two little bolts being ripped out....

Judging by the position of that rear wheel, something in the suspension is fucked.

On the final picture, the metal thats been ripped looks like the subframe.

Its not too hard to replace the subframe, if you can find a decent straight one. But i dont know if you'd have to swap your springs etc onto it.

The door and dents etc, i have no idea..

^^ I hope to god it's the subframe (Not that I know what that is), but I checked on ebay and there is a VT subframe with a starting bid of $10. It doesn't matter about the dents and the door, I can get a new door for about $150 and the other damage is very minimal.

Get what you NEED fixed. Does the car run? If it runs then all you need fixed is the suspension which would run you anywhere from a couple hundred to a few thousand depending on the damage. After that's fixed and it's running the car would be driveable. Leave the aesthetics alone until you can afford to pay for them, you can drive an ugly car. If the car moves, then you may even be able to drive it as is, it doesn't look like you can do much more damage to it.
