Hey people,
Help me out in this, I'd like to know what's going on in your part of the world.
Is it just me, but all this environmentalism has become a kind of sham? Sure, global warming and all is scientific and believable, but the whole apocalypse part and especially the industrial part of the phenomenon sounds like a massive guilt-manipulation machine.
Anyway, tell me what you know about this.

The eco-movement, with the help of sensationalist media, has blown the effect of man made greenhouse gases out of all proportion. And some people have become very powerful off the back of green politics, especially in Europe.
We're in the middle of an ice age and the sea level is (on a geological time scale) very low. Any increase in temperature is going to be bad news for us, given the coastal location of many cities, and it's been increasing for a very long time. But the Earth has been much hotter in the past and life has blossomed, and the projected (worst case scenario) effect of man made greenhouse gases isn't going to take us anywhere near this oft peddled runaway-greenhouse-effect within the next century.
As for the current measures being taken, they're barely worth shit in the long run, yet they still costs many billions to develop and build/operate.
