I downloaded this last night (it gets a wide release on Friday), and I have to say its one of the better films I've seen in a while. It chronicles the struggle of wrestler Randy "The Ram" Robson as he tours the CZW (ECW?) before having one last match with a formal rival.

Mickey Rourke's performance as a burnt out, tired wrestler is amazing. I think he is going to be an oscar nominee.

While this isn't as good as Aronofsky's magnum opus Requiem for a Dream the film is still high art. Its a definate must see for any fans of wrestling from the mid 90s.

requiem for a dream was some melodramatic fag shit. I really liked The Wrestler though.

One of the few films I've watched all the way through without wanting to take sandpaper to my eyes in a while. Mickey Rourke is great, perfect for the role and did an excellent job. The girl who played his daughter was the only let down for me, a poor choice.

Pretty good, if you assume he dies at the end.

Which I do.

I was hoping the end would be a slow-mo shot, emphasizing the Ram's heartbeat stopping mid-Ram Jam.

Excellent film though. I've never really been a fan of Aronofsky.

I thought it was great and the story progressed and regressed perfectly. Not the typical ending and a great one. Not too much, not too little. I have to disagree that it is some movie for fans of wrestling, it is a character study of a person whose triumphs and downfalls can be empathized with from people of any background.
