It just recently started and it sounds just like when you have a bad wheel bearing.
Is my HD about to die on me?
My other Drive (hidden, you have to manually hook it up, not external) runs quiet, so something doesn't sound right.

Dont risk losing your data. New harddrives are ~ $0.07 a gigabyte?
Back that data up NOW. Before you do anything else.
Found this (http://datacent.com/hard_drive_sounds.php) on slashdot a while back.

This.
1.5TB drives are like 99$ these days, there's no excuse NOT to buy one.
Coming from someone who has lost several thousand gigs of data due to HDD failure, back your shit up when you see any sings of a problem.

99$? Where's that? Might be worth getting one shipping from the US if there's that cheap over there...
It's best to back up before any signs of a problem. Hard drives don't always give nasty noises to warn you - they can and will just die on you. You're lucky that it's complaining loudly to give you a chance to back up.

There was a sale where it was cheaper, but i guess that's over. Either way GB per $ HDD's have come a long way.
