With the exclusion of troll threads and spam (obviously), why is it some threads are just locked because they are in the wrong forum rather than being moved to the right one? I mean sure the poster needs to learn to get it right but it's not really encouraging new posters to stay if you say "wrong forum huuurrrrr" and close their thread. So why not just move the ones that shoukld be moved? Laziness?

It's because there are moderators in certain forums who get extremely butt-hurt if anyone moves a thread into "their" domain, regardless of whether it belongs there, and regardless of whether there's a need to make a big stink about it. Those are the moderators that need their assholes punted right out of the park, just out of principle, however, we already know that administration couldn't care less to address this issue. Add it the pile and call it a day.

That's not really true anymore. The issue came up just before Euda left.

I have no problem moving threads and I do quite often as do most mods I know of. I saw several that were moved when I come on today.

That said, I usually won't move threads to: HB, S&A and IFIOTW.

That's because usually the thread made is mostly a piece of crap anyway or is something that I know the forum gets all the time [like a DXM thread in BLTC]. If a person is good enough to make a decent thread, they usually know where to put it.

If it's total shite then it gets closed

If it's semi-shite or totally off beam and can't legitimately be sent elsewhere then it goes to NIMF

If it's an attempt at 'humour', a dumb question or general Ameritardyness it goes to HB.



The whole point of NIMF was so we had somewhere to move dumb threads instead of HB and not just close threads.
