My neurologist prescribed me 4 mg Sansert 3 times daily for migraine an cluser headaches.

When I saw the generic name...methysergide...something immediately struck me.

Methysergide (-sergide)..lysergic acid dethylamine (-sergic)...and I realized this drug is related to LSD. Another related drug..methylergonovine (also called lysergic acid butanolamide) is used as an oxytocic agent (not sure what this means, something related to the hormone oxytocin?)

Anyways I have also read an entry in one of Alexander Shulin's books discussing this drug. He says how it is used for migraine an cluster headaches but that it has hallucinogenic effects...especially w/a 20 mg dose (regular dosing is 2 mg three times a day or 4 mg three times a day, the dose I will be on).

Wikipedia says this:

Its molecular structure is closely related to that of LSD.

Like LSD, methysergide also produces psychedelic and hallucinogenic effects above a dosage of about 4mg. Full effects are felt with dosages of 8-20mg.[citation needed]

About 4 mg is equal to 25mcg of LSD.

I know this is a rare drug, but I was just wanting to know if anyone has ever taken this drug, for medical reasons related to migraines and/or cluster headaches or to have a hallucinogenic experience. Any side effects...and what dose was taken for a trip if anyone has ever done that here.
