I may have found tyhe next upper I want!!!! I have a question for you. Will the 6.5grendal work on the 5.56 lower? can you use 5.56 mags? Is it legal to use a 6.5 or 6.8 upper on a 5.56 lower if it works?
I know the 6.8spc will work on a 5.56.

My BIL was looking for an AR-10 in 6.5 Creedmore. It a long action cartridge that won't work on the AR-15 platform.

The 6.5 Grendel is made to fit the AR-15. I am not sure about mags, but it should feed from the 5.56/223 mags. It is completely legal to stick whatever caliber upper you want on your AR-15 lower. Hell, you can buy .50BMG uppers for the AR-15.

I only have one suggestion. Think long and hard before you buy a 6.5 Grendel upper. Unless you reload it is pretty expensive to feed, and makers of loaded ammo are fairly limited. The grendel shines out at longer ranges but IMHO it is a bit under powered. If you were planning on a 24" barrel and shooting longer ranges I would say go for it but otherwise I would go for 223. I would consider a 7.62x39 long before I would the grendel. In fact I did think fairly hard about a 7.62x39 upper for blasting purposes, but the 223 is really the smartest choice for me.

oh it was the creedmore! I thought it was the 6.5 grendal my bad. Yeah maybe 6.5 g is not the best option for me either.
What do you think about the 6.8spc?

Truthfully the 6.8 never interested me so I haven't researched it any. I am sure it will fill a niche but none that I need filled.
