It's coming out about a month from now. All I can really say about the trailers is *fap fap fap*. I mean, fuck. The first game was one of the best I've ever played, and this one looks much better. The developers said that they got rid of the repetitive environments, added many new weapons (including this Mech-type thing that you can use), and it's clear from the trailers that they amped up the in-game scripted action/horror events (one of my favorite parts of FEAR).

Can't wait for this one.

Here's a trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDU2ue4lBQQ

Yeah, mate, I'm well up for this! Can't wait.

Hopefully it'll be more of the same, since the last game was surprisingly good. The graphics look fucking incredibly too.

FUCK SLOW TOTSE!

Here's a long gameplay video from the demo. Looks awesome, of course. Does anyone know who the enemy we're supposed to be fighting is? They're apparently human...which kinda sucks. At least when you slaughtered a bunch of mind-controlled clones you didn't really feel bad about it.

And FUCK SLOW TOTSE. FUCK IT IN THE ASS!

FEAR just isn't that scary

I agree, but I still found the original to be an amazing game. My only complaint was the same one that everyone who plays it has, the repetitive environments.

For my money, no other FPS has had better AI and more visceral combat since. Also, the gun that turns people into skeletons is one of my favorite FPS guns ever. Just the sound and the effects around it, sooo satisfying.

Anyway, I believe the Project Origin demo is hitting this month. If it's half as awesome as the original's demo, I know I'm going to have a blast with it.

This. I suppose the main "scary" part of FEAR was just that you wanted to avoid those random jump scares. Aside from that, the main focus was just on shooting off heads, legs, and lobbing slow-mo grenades.

And speaking of AI...definitely unparalleled, as far as I can tell. It's the only game where you can replay a shootout 5 times and have the sequence play out in a different way each time.

I hope Project Origin's demo is like the original's demo. The original demo gave you a compilation of environments that were in the final game, but at different stages. Most demos just give you one level from the full game, which spoils the experience when you finally play it.

Anyway, all aboard the Project Origin hype express train!

Yeah, it was really cool playing through the full game and seeing all the places you'd been in the demo, but in a different context. It would be really cool if they did that again.

But I know I'll replay it no matter what, because they AI is so damn good. I don't understand why more FPS's don't focus on the AI, it's such a huge part of the experience. Enemies that can outsmart you, and don't do the same thing every battle keep the combat engaging. Even though the environments were extremely repetitive in FEAR, I was interested the whole way through because of the excellent enemy AI.

I hope they sort the weapons out properly, they just didn't feel right in the original. But maybe that was just me. But still, really looking forward to this - didn't realise the release date was so close.

Eagerly awaiting this game. Whole-heartedly agree with the awesome AI.

What was wrong with the weapons? Loved the HV Penetrator nailgun. And gibbing guys with the shotgun was great. Sniper laser was awesome.

My favorite weapon was that really powerful one you get in one of the last levels. If I recall correctly, when you used it on someone close-range it would just obliterate them. I seem to have a memory of it obliterating a guy's entire upper half...not sure though.

2005 pretty much revolutionized PC gaming. The original FEAR was one of those games that just blew me away when I first played it, and it was great how I could max it out unbelievably on my new PC I had just built (in 2006), with AMD Athlon X2 2.2 Ghz, 2GB DDR memory, 2 7600GT's in SLI. Yeah that was great :). Too bad my rig is outdated now... :( need new video cards

I need to find my install discs so I can give it a whirl on my current rig which will cut through it like a hot knife through butter. Found the play discs but can't for the life of me remember where the install discs are. I've dug through so many boxes :(.

I recently bought a 360, so I thankfully don't really have to worry about PC requirements anymore. Good timing too, because pretty much all games now demand a high-end video card and at least a 2GHz processor. Even Red Alert 3 was apparently too much for my computer, based on the specs. (I was able to play through Fear and the expansion packs at medium settings, but newer games would rape my computer, I'm sure.)

You can build a computer that rapes the 360 for less than $400, but to each his own.
