View Full Version : Hamas Rockets
For some time know Hamas has been using homemade rockets to piss off isreal. What I didn't know was that they are essentually large (like 6ft) sugar rockets. In light of that I did some searching into the technical details behind thier construction but couldn't find much.
This thread is for the posting of technical information on, and the general discussion of qassam rockets. Links to in depth analysis of the construction of these rockets. Also what is the maximum practical range that can be obtained with sugar rockets?

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback.
I'm particularly interested in schematics, having experience with CAD.
I read a while back a British citizen was arrested and charged with terrorism for having rocket schematics in his possession. Luckily, I use full hard drive encryption. :)

you know, i have to think that it's a little more then a kno3/su rocket....Honestly i think it is a solid fuel rocket, but imported from someplace...or are stockpile hidden under a school or something. I'm not saying they don't have the tech to do it, but the middle east is a mecca for that type of thing.

Actually they are in fact mostly kn/su... from what I have read. Weird I know. The manufacturing techniques would make you cringe.

I'm pitying Hamas, I heard Israel was using white phosphorus on them. The statistics were like 13 Israelites dead and like 2000 something for Hamas.

I've seen the process in which they cast the propellant.
They basically use a skillet to bring the mix to the right temp and then pour it into the motor while someone else holds a metal rod to form a core burner.

If you look online at clips from different news sources they always. I watch a lot of the news from the area, including al jazeera (which is in fact pretty moderate, and a great news source), and sometimes they show clips from where they are made.
Sometimes they use larger mortars and pestels type devices and just poor it into tubes, while other times they have places to make it with larger motorized ball mills and labware. Anyways, sometimes it looks like they use much more than just kno3/sugar, especially because the qasams are pretty small sometimes (like 2 feet) and the grads are generally the bigger ones. whatever it is, there's probably much more to it.
