View Full Version : Need Help Finding the Titles of Two Future/Dystopian Movies

I have been wracking my brain trying to find the names of these two movies that I saw awhile ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The first movie is probably the hardest to remember, or to find out by searching google (I've tried for hours.) Bear in mind, this was a seemingly low-budget movie I saw only about 60% of probably a good 12-14 years ago, so please bear with me. It was a 90's movie that was possibly made by HBO or Showtime.

Basically, it was far into the future and human society had completely broken down and it started (or where I started the movie) it followed a group of teenagers/early 20s year olds. Eventually they come upon a compound/house where they meet two people, one man and one woman (I'm almost positive the man was white and the woman was asian). The two take the group in and it is later revealed that the two are immortal or at least extremely long-lived as they had lived in our present time (retaining eternal youth).

Things go well at first, then some sexual tension builds up as the two begin having relationships with various members of the original group (I guess having sex with the same person for hundreds of years gets boring, hah). Eventually the two get jealous of each other's respective lovers, and the male "immortal" (For lack of a better term) kills the female immortal's lover, which angers her and then she may or may not have killed the male immortals lover (Sorry, I saw this movie a long time ago, I can't remember what happened). The two immortals start arguing in front of everyone, and the male immortal starts complaining that the mortal humans "will never understand them" and he tells one of the mortal humans the classic joke (For some reason this part of the movie really sticks out to me):

"A priest and a rabbi are standing outside a warehouse and see a young boy walk by, the priest says to the rabbi "hey, lets grab the boy and take him into the warehouse and fuck him", and the rabbi says to the priest "fuck him out of what?""

When the mortal human looks confused and doesn't seem to get the joke, the male immortal says to the female immortal something like "See! He doesn't get it, he doesn't understand why it's funny". After that the details are kinda blurry (It was one of those movies I saw late at night while falling asleep), but basically the immortals start trying to fight and kill each other (with no success obviously), I forget what happens to the remaining mortals, but i think they leave the compound.

I'm sorry, that's a pretty shitty summary, but that all I can remember of it. Does any of this sound familiar to anybody?

The next movie is probably easier to find out, even though I've tried and failed. It's a more recent movie. I only saw the end of it. But it was basically a dystopian future where the gov't of either the US or UK (can't remember which) is turned into an authoritarian Christian-esque theocracy and the protagonist (I'm guessing) is sent to prison. The movie is fairly recent I'm sure. It had a very Children of Men meets V for Vendetta (minus all the Guy Fawkeness) feel to it. In the end the Gov't Ruler is murdered I believe (like I said, I only saw the last 20 mins or so).

Again, sorry for the vague descriptions, but if any dystopian future/scifi movie buffs can help me out with these movies, I'd be extremely grateful.

Thanks

Are you for real?

...Uhh yes, why wouldn't I be "for real"?

What is so odd about going to the Moving Pictures forum and asking for help in finding the titles of films? People ask for help like this often in this forum. I don't understand why you think I wrote a long post "just for fun", or whatever you think my motive is? Please explain.

Is there anyone in this forum who could help me find the titles of these films? These aren't popular films, I understand, but I figured that if anyone could help me with this, it would be my fellow movie buffs in Moving Pictures.

Granted, I haven't been very active on Totse for awhile until recently, but back when I was, a question like mine was not seen as an unusual request.

I have no idea what the first could be...

Equilibrium for the second?

You can try scouring through this list (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_dystopian_films)and comparing your descriptions.

The God Damn Devil

The first one is Teenage Caveman (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0283043/)

The second one .... no clue. If you can think of any more details, post em and we will see what we come up with. Did the main character happen to be a female? Because it almost sounds like the ending of Ultraviolet.

EDIT: Actually Equilibrium is a better guess for the second movie based on the description. Fun fact, both were written and directed by Kurt Wimmer.

The Goddamn Devil, thank you, I think this is the movie I'm looking for. Not positive, but it seems to be the campy b-movie I remember watching.

Monkmaster, no, I don't think the second movie isn't Equilibrium, but thanks for trying to help.

More info on the second one... hmmm... it played on showtime a bunch about 5 months ago... It was much more "dark" than Ultraviolet. For some reason, the prison scenes seemed to be filmed in a slight sepia-tone. Honestly, it sort of reminded me of that Robert Heinlein novel "If This Goes On-", the ending at least, as I said earlier, I only saw the last 20 minutes of it.

I'll look into Equilibrium though, although I don't remember any mention of emotion-numbing drugs or anything Brave New World-esque, but I'll look into the movie a bit more.

Thanks for the help guys.

EDIT: The protagonist of the second movie was male
