it's generally very safe, the only thing is an overdose is possible due to the lack of oxygen. also, long-term use has been linked to olney's lesions in rats, although DXM caused the same effects and has no similar effect on humans.

Answering OPs question, as long as you don't do a whole bunch without waiting a few minutes in between you'll be alright. Like you said, it does deplete B12 so go buy some B-Complex supplements.

I dunno if you know this already, but when you crack into a balloon wait about a minute for the N20 to cool. Only a very small percentage is absorbed in your lungs per breath, which is why you see people asphyxiate themselves with the balloon with several breaths.

It can be tricky breathing back into the balloon at first but after a few go's at it you'll get the hang of it pretty quick. Do that about 5 or 6 times if you can, holding the gas in your lungs at least 5 seconds each if you can.

Don't use regular balloons unless you want them to explode in your face. The balloons you want are called "punching balloons."

Nitrous is completely safe if handled correctly.

Incorrect use includes taking it while standing up and constantly inhaling nitrous and not oxygen. There is really nothing else I can think of that would cause you harm when taking nitrous.

Lack of oxygen is called oxygen deprivation... not an overdose of nitrous. And those studies on rats showed that they had no irreversible lesions.

I have that one, and the thing I hate about it is the the nitrous always leaks out the back end of it. time to get a better one.


and if you're using balloons, slightly pinching the end can slow the release making it a little easier.

Funny story about nitrous.

Me and a buddy were tripping on some L at my place once crackin the whip and cleaning out a case. Anyway, after a few dozen balloons, my buddy goes to fill another one and the balloon exploded when it was full. It was loud as fuck, and of course it scared the fuck out of me and my friend since we were tripping pretty hard. After about 5 seconds of WTF we started laughing uncontrollably.

LOL, crackers aren't illegal. They're used for filling balloons.

I have not noticed any ill effects after the use of Nitrous, even after extended sessions of use. I did notice after one session, however, that I had a rather nasty headache and that my lungs hurt somewhat, but I cannot be sure that was entirely due to the use of the Nitrous, as other substances had been used.

As the others have said, so long as you breathe an adequate amount of oxygen and so long as you take vitamins to supplement any B12 deficiencies and you aren't a dumb-fuck your Nitrous use should be, and should continue to be enjoyable. As with anything else don't over-do it, and enjoy.

A suggestion: I find that mixing Nitrous with other substances, especially psychedelics, greatly enhances the experience. Get your hands on some good quality acid or MDMA and mix it with the NOS - you won't regret it.

Thanks all for the good responses. Though I am pretty new to chargers, I have sucked whip cream dry before. I already knew to blow it in and out a few times. It's good stuff.

Mainly I am concerned about mental damage. I've always been fairly discriminating towards inhalants in general. After a number of chargers I feel slightly loopy. I've noticed a lack of coordination slightly as well. A minor head ache also is present after a few. Certainly not all of these are from oxygen deprivation.

No Olney's lesions? I sure hope not because I have fucked with DXM way too much, I'm not interested in the chance of getting any more.

I might as well finish off this last charger though.... :p

Nitrous is great stuff, I just hope this isn't irreversibly fucking me up.

And to the guy who asked where I got the cracker, I have looked ALL over every store every head shop you name it. The one place I finally found it was in a beat down looking chevron off the 395 in Nevada. It was a strange blessing. :p

As far as brain damage, you really only have to worry about that with the tanks. With chargers and balloons it's hard to do the amount necessary for anything serious.

I've done tons of nitrous in my time and I'm mostly alright. The only sort of "damage" that's been done to me is from long term psychedelic use. Once you reach a certain point in the rabbit hole you're not going to come all the way out again.

After an hour there is no more felt effect except maybe a headache and burntout feeling.

nitrous is fun. you only have to worry about the b12 depletion if you are using it excessivley. If it is a one time thing and just a box or 2 you don;t really have to worry but you could have some b vitas anyway I suppose to be safe.

other than that have a good time. those boxes wont last long trust me.
