View Full Version : Does our generation have higher standards?

Just twenty years ago, guys our age had very limited access to porn. I assume back in those days, you were lucky if you had a magazine with a few scantily clad girls, which you'd fap to time after time.
That would lead me to believe, that standards back then were pretty low: fappage wasn't as satisfying, which forced kids out into the streets to try hard and to get laid - with almost anyone; since there just weren't many other options available.
Nowadays, we have access to a huge variety of porn and other fappage aids. Which should probably mean that our standards in porn have gone up due to a greater selection available, and, in turn, made our real-life standards go up ("meh, it's not worth it, I'll just stay at home and fap instead of going out with those ugly birds")
Thoughts?

Im not so sure. I think too many variables apply to classify our generation as having higher standards. For example, the explosion of mass media and pop culture, around 1990 to today, would have lowered our standards I think. Women are, at least in my opinion, seen now as more of sex objects (as they should be) now more than ever.
I think the average age of sexual activity has gone down, while frequency has gone up. I have no sort of factual basis for this, just my own speculation.
So in this respect, our standards are lowered. Sure, I can fap all day to myriad women, but my desire for genuine poon-tang remains high.

regardless of what types of deviant and depraved porn i watch, when out in real life I always go for the girl that has natural good looks rather than the superficial porn good looks. so regardless of porn or anything else my standards are way too high.

I don't think so. You have to remember, birth control wasn't legal until about 50 or 60 years ago (in the US, anyways), and even then, often only a married couple (not a married man or woman, both parties had to be present) could get it.
So people weren't sleeping around as much. The social stigma of being a slut, or easy, or loose, or whatever they used to call it, used to be much greater. Back then, if your parents even found out that you'd had sex, I imagine that you would be kicked out and disowned for the huge amount of "shame" that you'd brought on your family. Now 15-17 year olds are getting pregnant left and right.

I'd say this generation has lower standard considering all the health problems and rampant ignorance.
