View Full Version : Getting lucky in a bank ATM

Today I went to a pharmacy close to my house. I needed to withdraw cash from my bank afterwards, but it was kind of late and the nearest bank is kinda far away. I turned around and saw a shady, generic ATM inside, so I said, fuck it, I need money nao. I inserted my card and saw the quantity list which you could withdraw. 100, 250, 300, 500, etc (pesos). Lolwut? 250? I just needed 200, so meh, I pressed 250 (it's strange to see that amount as an option). It gave me 500, and my account balance in the system had only fallen 250 pesos. I thought I had made a mistake.

Hmm, nevertheless I got curious and tried it again. Pressed 250 and bang! 500 came out again. Fuck it, I withdrew all my money, 250 by 250, and everytime I got 500. So now I've doubled my money at that thing. Woohoo.

The thing is, can I get caught? Consequences? I assume the error is physical or something, because the system registered that I took out only 250, but the machine handed me 500. I'm nervous, but I feel awesome at the same time because I think I've never had so much money in my hands. As far as I knew, there were no cameras and I am not sure if most ATMs have cameras themselves.

Give this lucky man serious responses, totse.

Put it back in the bank and repeat. I don't know about laws in Mexico, although it would'nt be your fault if you did'nt 'check how much it gave you'.

So what you mean is that by the end of the month when I get money at the bank, I can get double amount again? Or what I did was retrieve the "pay" from this month beforehand?

I wouldn't worry about getting arrested. It's a known fact the only people that get arrested in Mexico are all on the border, and only go to jail/get sold into prostitution if they can't pay the bribe.

I was withdrawing money from an ATM the other night to catch a taxi home.

There there was a $50 note lying there in the dispense slot of the machine.

If they notice the mistake, they'll just take from your bank account that extra you got.

So say you wanted 250, but the machine gave you 500, they'll withdraw that extra 250 from your account.

Multiply that times however many times you did it.

I've heard stories when atm's malfunction and random money just pops out. I guess the ATM was just going hay wire.

I thought the OP meant he was having sex inside a bank. I took the "ATM" to mean "at the moment".

I need to get out more often...:(

Anyways, congrats on getting free money from the machine. I wouldn't of done that though. It seems like bad karma.

Keep hold of that money, they're going to want it back. I mean seriously don't spend a penny over more than what you were needing from it because they've got logs of every single penny that goes missing.

My father works at one of those companies that send armored cars around to fill up ATMs. What has most likely happened is the notes were loaded into the ATM the wrong way around, because ATMs can't tell the difference between them as such.

The bank knows exactly who you are because they know who owns the account. You won't get in trouble as such, just expect a bill from the bank soon saying you owe them money.

Well he has all his 'earnings' (winings?) in cash in his hot little hands right now.

So what is stopping him from closing his bank account tomorrow morning and open up another one with a rival bank, depositing his ill-gotten cash with them?

If you mistakenly drop a $50 note, will the bank refund you?

Of course not, so why should you cover up for their errors. Fucking cunts. If they don't want it to happen they should give their workers better pay/training or something.

1). As far as I know, all ATMs have at least one camera to record your face, often more.
2). They definitely log everything that happens.

Now, considering this is Mexico, chances are they won't be arsed to pursue you over the 1.4$ extra you stole from them, and if they do, you can probably bribe them.

If you're paranoid, you can always cross the border and escape to Mex.. err I mean America.

Well, getting money you haven't earned is awesome, I know, but just to be safe you should go back there and destroy the ATM. Alright, here's my plan, eat a normal diet of lots of beans, but this time collect the farts in a big plastic bag, then when it's full take the bag to the ATM, tie it on, and attach a fuse and light it. Yes, brilliant.

Lol.

I did hear, like one poster commented, that there's a chance the guys that put the money inside the ATM made a mistake and put the money differently. It's a physical error, so they should make the people that fill up the ATM pay for being stupid but pretty cool.

By the way I live in a city called Hermosillo, in the northern part of the country, in a state called Sonora which borders AZ, for whoever asked, too.
