Ok so i have been on a steady stream of suboxone and i was wondering if i took 200-300mg of tramadol if i would feel anything, i know that tramadol is non narcotic, so i dont think the sub will block it out out .........just wondering if anyone out there has experimented with the two. thanks

It is said that bupe will block tramadol but it is also said that some of its active metabolites have not been proven to be blocked by bupe. People have done it and reported positive effects. But tram as other pharmacological actions which have an effect on GABA and also an snri effect. Tramadols active metabolite M1 is a partial agonis also.
www.bluelight.ru/vb/showthread.php?t=414282 this explains it pretty well:
"It has effects on serotonin, norepinephrine and possibly GABA; it's metabolite O-desmethyl-tramadol gives almost all of the opioid effects as it has a much higher potency for the opioid receptors then tramadol does. However, buprenorphine will still stop the opioid effects from taking place. If the other pharmacological effects are analgesic enough for the OP, then it may work. "

"^ Yep. I agree with all that, although it's not totally proven that suboxone blocks the effects of M1 tramadol (O-desmethyl-tramadol). One thing is for sure, both M1 and buprenorphine have a high binding affinity for your MU opiate receptors. They're also both partial agonists.

As I've said, in my limited experience the combo wasn't good. I didn't feel more opiated. I'm guessing bupe might have the highest binding affinity to MU opioid receptors and does indeed block the actual opiate effects you get from tramadol. I doubt there have been any official studies done on this combo. "

this is really why we need a buprenorphine thread.

Well i guess i will just try it out and see what happens. I've got a script for 60 of 'em, and i might as well get some use out of them because they aren't worth shit. One other question to anyone reading this. Do opiates affect you more strongly during morning/ early afternoon, as opposed to night time. For me atleast, if its past 5pm its not even worth it for me to take anything because the effects are minuscule.
