No this isnt a thread about how addictive weed is and how its like crack.

SO, ive been takin it easy on the tokes for one reason or another, and ive been having fiendish nightmares. i know its because marijuana inhibits REM sleep, but short of waking up every 2 hours, is there anyway to (besides blazing, as thats the obvious solution)

and yes, i used to blaze massive quantities of bud. i usually just pay my friend (who grabs oz) 5 bucks to throw down on a 1.0-1.5 gram blunt , 2-3 times a day.

since last september ive paid him around 700 dollars, and still owe him 710 dollars. (which amounts to 420 grams of bud if i round it 1400, and 1.5 grams per session LOL) now that i stopped smoking so much, ive been having these horribly weird, extrmely vivid , sometimes lucid dreams. im not complaining about the lucid dreaming, but these dreams are getting very very very bothersome, and they seem to occur in realtime, (so im stuck dreaming for hours)

for example today i took a 2 hour nap, and for half an hour i dreamt that i was in a gang comprised people i barely knew at my old old high school and for literally half an hour i stood there and punched a guy in the face, choked him, etc and then i think woek for a sec and scene changed and for half an hour i was holding this bed sheet (like i grabbed it bunched up at the bottom like a rope) but the other end was flying in the air so it was like making me fly upwards so i had to grab and pull down the sheets to stop myself from flying away. i did this for about 30 hour down various streets (streets i know exactly where they are) until i realized, hey this is defiantley a dream how is this bed sheet propelling me in the air , and thats when my lucid dream began.

so i just flew around a bit, then a found a kiddie pool full of sexy bitches and fucked em for awhile.

anyways, this is getting quite annoying and besides blazing again, is there anyting i can do? also, this is by no means nothing i cant deal with, but i would just like it to end , ya know?

specificially im looking for some kind of herbal supplement or nootropic that will reduce the amount of REM sleep i get.

Yea im not usually a huge fan of my dreams... after hardly dreaming at all for almost a year its hard to get used to sleep not being just closing your eyes and waking up with an uneventful night... which in ways i enjoy a lot...

I find that after a while of abstaining from drug use i get drugged out dreams... I have been anticipating a small rave/party im going to this saturday, and go figure my dream was about rolling balls, glowsticks, and dancing.... I enjoy these sorts of nights...

Do what thou wilt All,

I remember being in the same situation at some point, without the debt (you can't get anybody to front you anything in this town due to the amount of "ripoffery") or dreams.

Since I'm just waiting for the college semester to start right now, I haven't been doing anything but laying around eating, watching tv, and using the internet.

I noticed I haven't had any cravings to smoke weed since I graduated. I remember coming home from school every day with a huge urge to smoke.

Perhaps the only reason you feel the need to smoke is to alleviate your stress, tension, or anxiety from work, school or whatever it is you do on your day to day basis.

From smoking for about 5 years now, I noticed I've had some rather interesting dreams from when I'm coming down from week long smoking sessions (when I can't find anymore connections) that are usually a bit more vivid and lucid than your average dreams. They don't bother me at all though and are actually more pleasurable than anything. The bad dreams you're having might be coming from something else, the weed only amplifies my dreams.

The only thing I can tell you is to try and find an alternative for alleviating stress or target the stress at its source and execute it (job, school, etc.).

Love is the law,
Regulus

Just enjoy what you've got. How long since you cut down?

Those REM experiences is your brain trying its hardest to catch up on all the REM sleep it lost. I suggest you catch up on your dreams and maybe you'll end up with better cognitive performance.
I know caffeine decreases the quality of sleep, try drinking a cup or two of coffee daily.

I had similar problems for quite a long time after stopping daily benzodiazepine use...still do, occasionally, but not so much anymore. I wouldn't say I had nightmares, but certainly some very strange dreams, often involving people from my past that I may not have seen or talked to or even thought of in close to 10 years.

I would wake up often, be aware I was awake, then consciously go back to sleep within five seconds and return to the very same dream I was having when I awoke. This still happens at times, usually at least twice a week, and when it does I can do the dream-wake-return to dream-wake-return to dream cycle as much as four or five times within an hour.

Nightly I usually take 5 mg of Melatonin, 100 mg of 5-HTP, and, if I feel especially restless and anticipate trouble sleeping, between 50-100 mg of diphenhydramine. I'll usually drink about 3-4 nights out of the week, as well, not necessarily as a tool for sleep, but just because I enjoy a bit of liquor at the end of a day's work. I still take everything else when I'm drinking and the only thing I notice is that the alcohol seems to contribute to a somewhat "calmer" sleep; I'm the type of person who tends to thrash around in my sleep and wake up with my covers kicked to the floor and half my bottom sheet pulled off, but when/if I drink a bit I find that I wake up in generally the same position I went to sleep in.

Now when I say "a bit of liquor", I mean just that; in my case, about 4-5 ounces of 90 proof bourbon. I don't necessarily recommend that because alcohol actually disturbs the sleep cycle for a lot of people and will very quickly cause a psychological dependence if you use it to sleep every night, but if you find a small amount effective for you and can limit it to every other day or so, it can be, in my experience, at least, quite effective at calming down some of the crazier dreams.

Fuck it I'm rambling...which brings me to something I should probably instruct you to take into account when considering my advice: on pretty much a daily basis I take between 20-40 mg of Adderall IR and 150 mg of Wellbutrin SR, almost always giving myself at least 10-12 hours post-dosing before I plan to sleep. I know that's plenty of time for the primary stimulant effects of the amphetamines to wear off, even when prolonged/potentiated by the bupropion, but I do believe that there is still a distinct possibility that I get some residual effects that might impact my sleep. Then again, I had the same problems/results prior to using Adderall/Wellbutrin so who knows...

I have been clean of opiates for about a week now and I keep dreaming of them, for instance I dream of preparing a nice shot or getting some dope, those sort of things.

I hope you can find a way to cope with those because you'll be having them for a very long time.

Anything that works on GABA. Like the other guy asked, how long has it been since you cut back? You could very well just be having rebound REM sleep, which would pass in time. Just wait it out if you can.

when i began doing heroin, i did the "st louis poor man's" dope, meaning $10 capsules filled up with a mixture of dormin (diphenhydramine) and heroin. so basically i developed a ridiculous tolerance to diphen, taking 400+ mg and not being able to sleep. well ive been banging pure dope for a few months now and a few nights ago i ate maybe 90mg of diphen and jesus christ was that a good nights sleep. that shit is so effective when used for the right reasons.

Diphen is what i use to get to sleep when I'm out of weed and don't have 2$ to go get a 40.

oh, and you can stop smoking weed, it's just why would you want to?

i haven't gone a day without smoking in a few months, and it has not been more than a day in over a year.

when i go even most of a day without smoking, i don't fiend for weed but i just don't feel normal.. i feel much more on edge and i'm strangely unpleasant. sleeping without any supplementation is hell for me. i spent the night at a school retreat(smoked before we left on the bus and as soon as we got back), when we had been running around all day, then hit the sack around 12:30, and i was tired as fuck but couldn't sleep.

yea, i realize my life isn't cool but while i'm in the maybach hustlin' for mills you gotta realize my PENIS's WORD is WHAT GOES

You certainly can get residual effects from the Adderall well after 12 hours of onset making it hard to fall asleep. It's different for everyone, and can vary from day to day.
