I live in an apartment, but I love to build stuff. What's the cheapest way to get access to a workshop? I was thinking that renting a storage locker might work, but that would cost a lot more money than I have available. Any recommendations?

how would you get power to said storage unit? All of the ones I've ever seen don't have electricity.

In my town, I've heard you can rent one of the smaller heated, lighted, powered aircraft hangers at the municipal airport for not too much. Probably best if you have some buddies to go in on it with. Short of that, there might be a deal on some warehousing or something.

Something like this works in many of them that have a regular light bulb. If not, just wire right to the mains of the light if you have a way to temporarily cut the power to the building.

Sure, that might work for Dremels and solder irons, but say you find yourself a used engine lathe or something. Something that needs like a 220 volt receptacle.

Not that just any airport hanger would likely have something like that, but I guess I'm asking what does one do in such a situation?

the workshops at my university seem to allow in any random joe. so you can go there, or your local community college.
