I live in California. I was pulled over by an officer the other day and received a fix-it ticket or be fined $143. It was for not having my license plate that was sitting on my dash mounted to my front bumper.

The thing about mounting the license plate is that it's an after market grill and bumper, so there aren't any holes pre-drilled into it. How would I go about this project and what would I need to complete it? Should I just have a professional (don't know what kind...) do it so it doesn't look like it's going to fall off? How much would this cost? Where are the possible places to have the license plate mounted, other than the middle, that would still be in legal put it at? Should I just pay off the fine and go about as if this didn't happen?

Later on that evening, I started noticing lots of Mercedes, BMW's, and other trucks that didn't have a license plate at all in the front of their vehicles. Why me :mad::mad:

Smith sent me here.

A shitty tailgate paint job I did to show that I barely have an idea of what you may be talking about,

If any moderators can lock the other thread it would be appreciated.

I thought in cali its ok to not have your plate in the front. I's legal here in texas, and I saw a bunch of plates from cali this past month (road trip kids) and they didnt have their plates up in front.

Try that out. I had originally thought you had one of those fiberglass bumpers for a car. Didn't know you had a truck.

(In my drunken stupor, I thin kthat's the year model range. If not, a casual google search of the year model plus "front license plat mount" should yeild some results. Since you have the standard Chevy bumper, it should be easy to find an OEM or even aftermarket mount for it.)

That looks like the same site. With the weekend coming up, I might browse junkyards for the hell of it. I always find those types of places to be rather adventurous and I might get lucky at one of them.

All that aside, would I just mark where I would want the screw to go and just start screwing away into the bumper or should the bracket 'hook' over the top and hold firmly for accuracy? And what type of screws would be best for this? I couldn't find the name for the teeth-less dry wall anchor screws http://zenstoves.net/Supplies/Fasteners/DryWallAnchor.jpg .

In the third link, I believe that black part that is hanging off is called a front engine cover. Correct me if I'm wrong, but where would I be likely to purchase one of those and about how much would I be looking to pay for a new one? The hole that's suppose to be where the nut holds it has a piece of black material missing so it could just slip off.
