So Jeff Hunter finally decided to pull the plug. This is indeed a sad day for all totseans everywhere.
Most people came here for some sort of idiotic reason or another but decided to stay for the community. Some people have spent half their lives on &totse. People of all ages, ethnicities, religions, genders, etc all coming together as one entity: Temple of the Screaming Electron.
I'm pretty sure I found this site through google while searching for something illegal, God only knows what that might have been. I didn't even realize there was a BBS here at first, just checked out some of the text files, but I clicked on one of the Hot Topics and I discovered the forums and signed up.
That was 2004, seems so long ago, yet such a short time in the grand scheme of things.
Over the years I have been introduced to IRC, shocking pictures, strange pornography, snuff films, and horrible youtube clips. I've came here for advice and support at times, believe it or not, some times it was good. I've used totse as a place to get help with things tech or computer related and have been surprised by how knowledgeable so many totseans are. I've come here just to bullshit, have some fun, get a laugh or kill some time. I've met several totseans in real life and have had varying experiences, some of which you know about, some you don't.
Totse has been many things to many people, it seems such a surprise that it all could end so suddenly, something about the short notice gives you the feeling of just learning a good friend or relative has died. A feeling that you never really had the chance to say "goodbye" and feel sort of scarred or unfulfilled.
We must remember, that totse was never really ours, it was Jeff's baby. I believe he felt that totse had lived it's golden years and was slowly declining more and more, I feel he would rather burn out than fade away, as it were. He most likely wants to leave a legacy he can be proud of, not a legacy of mediocrity and failed dreams. This was a social experiment in which all of you are the test subjects, you are all an organism in which has been studied for the good of mankind, do not think your posting here was done in vain.
I think I've ranted long enough here, so I shall end with a quote from my favorite writer: Hunter S. Thompson
"It never got weird enough for me."
