hey gearheads, always read the posts here but never actually helped out which i look forward to changing, recently since i was laid off im significantly low on cash and have a LOT of time on my hands, they say idle hands are the devils playground and im hopeing you devils will put me to work.
gradually ive gone from project idea to project idea, at the start it was turbo'ing an ex taxi but its gone down as my money has dwindled, wanted to get my hands on a hemi but way out of my price range and i was just thinking about buying an old rusted out muscle car and installing a cheap turbo off a shitbox from the wreckers, but even those rusted out peices of crap are out of my price range, especially for one with a v8, too many people buying them and repairing them just like i want to do i guess, but i saw a muscle car engine, a hemi thats been torn out of an industrial truck, not a valiant (charger) but a truck, i always looked at engine conversions as a great project but performance engines are expensive as all hell.
now before i continue complaining i will tell you whats in my price range, and thats truck engines, big v8's with more torque then you can poke a stick at, even the crappiest of truck engines are usually turbo'd and if they arent im sure a couple of shit turbo's will fix that problem, i havnt been having much luck finding other fellows who have thought about or even done a project of installing a common truck engine into a car. the hemi i spoke about is a great example because just like holden red engines will fit into a land cruiser and hilux transmissions will fit into almost anything im sure theres plenty of truck engines that will fit in with minimal modding into a similiar car.
thanks and i understand the size problems but they can be overcome with a bit of modding if the engine is "too" big, there are a lot of smaller truck engines though. cheers for any help or links guys
