500 people showed up for this white nationalist gathering. Where was outcast Billy Roper and Alex Linder at during this event?

Alex was not allowed to attend, on the constant and repeated kvetching of Charles A. Lindbergh.

I invited Billy to go before the disinvitation. Billy declined. Vociferously. ...Though he "wished me good luck", which luck I did not have. LOL

Where is the media attention? Its like they detonated a 'silence bomb' at that get together.

Betcha it was a real life version of the Stormfront Forum, where everyone sooths each other about their beliefs, then leave thinking they did something when in reality, they havent done a damn thing.

This is 2004, if there arent at least 10 news cameras there, it didnt happen.

Duke draws support from fractured far-right groups

By CAIN BURDEAU

KENNER, La. (AP) — Fresh out of prison for bilking supporters, former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke hosted a weekend gathering of enthusiastic backers eager to hear him as he lashed out at Jews, blacks, immigrants and the "Zionist-controlled media."

About 250 of them chanted "Duke! Duke!" as he took the stage Saturday night during his "unity and leadership conference." None cared that he had just served time for swindling contributors out of hundreds of thousands of dollars in a direct mail scheme.

"It was essentially a political conviction," said Paul Fromm, director of the Canadian Association for Free Expression.

The Southern Poverty Law Center, a watchdog group that monitors hate groups, has identified Fromm as a Holocaust denier and said the Memorial Day weekend conference was a gathering for like-minded white supremacists and right-wing groups.

The Web site for the Duke-founded European-American Unity and Rights Organization identified participants as leaders of Stormfront, the National Alliance and the British National Party.

"I think the congress is intended to deflect attention from Duke's conviction for bilking his supporters and it's a publicity stunt pure and simple to make him look like a candidate rather than a convict," said Lance Hill, director the Southern Institute for Education and Research.

Despite Duke's legal travails, some extremists apparently still hold hope that he can unite and lead a political movement.

Don Black, the creator of Stormfront, one of the first white nationalist Internet sites, praised Duke for his political savvy.

"He's demonstrated that he's been the lead man in the past," Black said. "I believe the conference represents the beginning of a viable political movement for white America."

Damn right. Bunch of old fuddy duddies talking about how SF will be the new mass media... Nothing will change unless revolutionaries make it change.

Why would anyone want to go to the fuddy duddy conference anyway?

Eyup! Compare the Duke-meeting mainstream media coverage with WR and Linder media coverage at Topeka!

No comparison!

Sounds like the media pays real attention to David Duke. From what I understand Alex Linder and Billy Roper could have attended, provided they pay the 35 bucks like everyone else and they were not going to be treated as anything special. But since Roper or Linder would not be treated as anything but another white person, they declined to come. Seems Roper and Linder have a problem being just one of us normal people.

But compare: Duke draws 500 to a paid rally, Roper gets 24 to a free rally in Topeka. The National Alliance and Stormfront were front and center during Duke's rally. Seems to me the outcast are Alex Linder and Billy Roper and the National Alliance is strong with valid members while White Revolution draws the rejects and kooks. It also appears that unity with White Revolution is simply words and not action.

Who told you this? It's totally incorrect as it concerns Alex, and since Billy is not liked by the same people, I really doubt they'd have let him in either. What you're stating is wrong. Haven't you read any of what we've been relaying happened here since last Thursday night? Or you just don't believe it, or wish to try to spread disinformation?

David Duke is a skilled politician and a polished speaker. His book, "My Awakening", and his political campaigns and writings have helped reach hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of White Americans, as well as Europeans.

Some people may have negative things to say about his past actions, or his current chosen alliances, and it's true that I wouldn't have been allowed into the Conference any more than Alex Linder or Craig Cobb were. However, I did receive a request for an invitation to our Topeka event from one of Duke's inner circle, who stated that he and Roy Armstrong, Duke's right hand man, might be interested in attending. I replied by telling them that I regretted that Mr. Duke was not going to be released in time to attend the demonstration himself, as our keynote speaker and guest of honor, but in his absence they would be welcome to attend and give a speech on behalf of EURO. As it turned out, Ron Doggett of EURO ended up doing so, and we were glad to have him. The Louisiana state coordinator for EURO, there in Duke's home state, is also a friendly ally of White Revolution, as are others.

I don't personally have any interest in electoral politics, it's not White Revolution's preferred tactical approach. But, just as Tom Metzger and I cordially agree to disagree about tactics, so must Duke and I. He makes a far better political candidate than I ever would, anyway. If that is the approach they take, as it seems to be, then I wish them well. Different courses for different horses, and the more different ways, and from different directions, we assault the enemy, the better.

Best Regards,

Billy

Billy Roper,

Where were you for Duke's rally? Making up excuses why you didn't want to unify with other whites doesn't cut it. The only reason you didn't show up is because you would have been treated like everyone else. You would have to pay, just like everyone else, but of course you can simply tap into your White Revolution little slush fund to pay for it. It seems you have a problem with being treated like all other white people, you want to be treated as special, you seem you think you should better treated different than most white people. Billy Roper, you are no different than any other white person.

When you showed up at that Topeka rally with SEPERATE on your protest sign really made you look stupid. Catering to nazi's only makes you look even more like a defective.

Duke's conference was a huge success, more than anything the outcast White Revolution has every done. The truth is, mention David Duke's name on the street to random people and most will know who he is. Mention Billy Roper's name and almost no one will know who he is.

Think about that. Now step aside and FOLLOW where our movement should be going instead of doing this for your own personal gratification.

David Duke may be popular with you, but to the 99% of americans, his name is an slur or substitute for KKK. Dont get off thinking that Duke is making any progress, cause he isnt. Its foolish to think you are making headway when you just spinning your wheels in the ditch. Nothing is more foolish than to get yourself stuck in that ditch and spin your wheels too with a big smile on your face.

Roper and Linder are, not unlike Duke, so very far from being "just one of us."
And it is damn lucky for us that they are. You have to be "something special," ie, in possession of both brains and balls, to put your ideas along with your name, your face, and your ass, on the line, as they both do, each in their own way.
And you seem not to have considered that it is incomparably easier to draw a crowd to a resort, sanctuary, choir practice, or meeting of like minds... than it is to a hostile environment lacking in either comfortable atmosphere, cushy seating, or tasty refreshments.

DOWN with whatever divides us!

Evansville,

Think about what you're saying for a minute. David Duke has been a prominent White Nationalist since the 70's. That's coming up on 3 decades now. In that time, he has met many, many people in his home state of Louisiana. He got very many of them to vote for him. If 500 people didn't show up to pay $35 for a conference in his home town of New Orleans, I'd think he was a failure. Hell, there's probably that many people living in New Orleans and the immediate vicinity who either directly worked for his past political campaigns or who were his friends and classmates in college. I honestly thought there'd be a lot more than 500 people there.... I personally know 4 WNs who drove 13 hours to get to the Duke conference. I thought that this was going to be a really big nationwide event. I mean, 500 is good, and I listened to a bit of Duke's talk, and I've got to admit he's still got the fire, and I have a lot of respect for him and what he's done. All that said, I personally am a somewhat disappointed at the 500 figure.

Of course, I'm also disappointed in the 24 figure at Topeka. But, I put it all into perspective. The first I ever heard of Billy Roper was in 2000 when he replied to an e-mail inquiry I sent to the National Alliance. As far as I was concerned, he was just an NA staffer. Fast forward a bit... He started WR what, two years ago? And in an environment of complete and utter hostility (unlike Duke who started his movement career when the KKK was still viable and he was on a politically charged college campus). I believe that if you put a 30-year-old essentially no-name David Duke into the same position Billy Roper was in when he started WR, he would have seen no more success than Billy Roper has seen.

Anyway, none of this is really to criticize either DD or BR. They're both doing good jobs, I think. What my point is, is that you're making apples-to-oranges comparisons. It's like looking at two businesses, Business A that's been around for 25 years and Business B that's been around for 2 years, and Business A has $5 million in revenues while Business B only has $240 thousand. To tell the owner of Business B "You should just give up, Business A is so much better than you!" is to deny both the progress that Business B has made and the missteps that Business A has made.
