I had a bottle of Dutch beer, as I vacationed there, during my abscence here, which was fermented 4 times! The Belgians ferment theirs only up to 3 times:

Grolsch is my favourite Dutch beer that is well worth searching out. Brewed since 1615 . **1

(**1 If 'Reamer' is reading this, this refers to the year 1615, not 4 and a quarter in the afternoon :rolleyes: ).

Anyone here tried Absinthe it emerald green in colour, slightly cloudy, has a real kick to it. 68% VOL. (136 Proof).

I am not sure, but I think it's banned in the UK. :D

The real stuff is banned in every country except perhaps Spain :confused: where Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso and the whole surrealist art clicque consumed it for their inspiration. It is distilled from a hallucinogenic flower

A hallucinogenic plant actually, wormwood itz called. The UK never officially banned it, hence it reimporting Absinthe. It's never been banned in Spain or Czech either. It's banned for sale in France but it's legal to distill and export.
Damn it! I was in Spain, last year, and forgot to löök it up :o This helps plan our next vacation

'Wormwood' in Russian is 'Chernobyl' or something similar - biblical link to the event in the Bible regarding the meltdown type calamity called 'Wormwood'; in the Apocalypse of St.John. according to informed bible-thumpers :cool: .

As an alkaloid-containing 'bitter tasting' toxic green plant it has 'mawkishness-inducing properties' when mixed in drink, as reflected in the adage:

"Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder".

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The worst Dutch beer has to be Oranjeboom ? - I would'nt even offer a can of that P*ss to my good friend O**o R**er - thats how bad it is.

I would recommend when drinking Absinthe having a good friend around that is'nt drinking it. Found the world can start to get a little stranger when drinking the stuff, so it's good for someone to be able to tell you the barman is not turning into large waterbuffalo. ;) Funny old stuff that wormwood!
