HP E2455B Motorola/IBM Power PC 603/603E Preprocessor Interface |
The HP E2455B preprocessor interface gives you an easy and reliable connection from your HP logic analyzer to your Motorola/IBM PowerPC 603/603e PQFP target system for real-time analysis and full data acquisition. This preprocessor solution saves you time because it bypasses the need for you to design special debug connectors into your target system.
The HP E2455B consists of the following items: a preprocessor, an inverse assembler, an HP E5363A 240-pin PQFP elastomeric probing adapter (which includes 5 retainers, a locator tool, and adhesive), and five HP E5346A high-density termination adapters.
IBM/Motorola PowerPC 603/603e 240-pin PQFP up to 66 MHz speed
You can use eight 16-channel pods that are connected to four HP E5346A high density termination adapters. One additional high density termination adapter is included for the other processor signals.
Preprocessor only:
10 pf on all signalsThe HP E2455B operates in both state mode and in timing mode. The state modes consist of state-per-address mode or data-cycle mode. The state-per-address mode or data-cycle mode performs the following:
records those states in which one or more of the strobes AACK, ARTRY, TA, DRTRY, or TEA are asserted.
filters wait statesshows the PowerPC 603/603e microprocessor's decoupled address and data buses
Another state mode, the state-per-clock mode has the following advantages:
Captures address, data, and status on each CPU clock
Provides data for hardware validation and analysis during system crashes
The preprocessor interface supports timing analysis and presents unbuffered processor signals to the logic analyzer.
Configures the logic analyzer by labeling address, data, and status lines for the PPC 603/603e
Gives you trace listing PPC 603/603e mnemonics for easy correlation between captured dataand controlling code
Time-correlates bus information from other processors or bus interfaces, like PCI, in your system with the PPC 603/603e
Supports all processor, co-processor, and bus cycles
Supports disassembly synchronization at branch addresses
In the state listing, marks instructions which are prefetched, but not executed
The literature HP E2455B Motorola/IBM Power PC 603/603E Preprocessor Interface (HP Lit. # 5965-6037E) contains figures that provide the dimension information for the E2455B.
The literature contains figures that show the minimum keep out area around the probe that the elastomeric probe requires.

Optional Configurations
HP E2449B Motorola/IBM PPC 603/603e Inverse Assembler
If your system constraints prevent you from using the elastomeric probing interface, you may use the E2449B and AMP Mictor connectors in your system for connection to the processor signals. The E2449B provides the same logic analyzer configuration files and inverse assembly that the preprocessor interface provides. You will also use four HP E5346A high density termination adapters.
HP E2455-60002 Motorola Target System Interface
This configuration offers a preprocessor connection directly to the AMP Mictor connector on the Motorola Ultra and MVME1600-001 target boards. When using this adapter board with the Motorola target boards, you do notneed to purchase the HP E2455B. The HP E2455-60002 comes with the HP E2449B to provide assembly mnemonics for use with HP logic analyzers.
