4.1 How do I find out what software I have?

For all the following information you need to have your phone switched on, enter your PIN if needed and your keyguard de-activated.

If you have an Original 2110 not a 2110i/2110e (See section 3.2 if your not sure which you have)

Enter : *#9999#

If you have a 2110i or 2110e

Enter : *#170602112302#

If neither of these work you might have version 5.48 or greater as for this version the code to get the software version has changed (again). It is now

Enter : *#682371158412125#

Press (C) when you are finished.

4.2 What does the software version displayed mean?

The first line states the software version number.
  Eg. V 5.11

The second line is the date of the software version
  Eg. 27-09-95

The third line is the type of phone the software is for
  Eg NHE-4

4.3 What does NHE-1XN/NHE-4 mean?

As far as I can tell :
                                NHE-1XN
                                Is for the original 2110
  and
                                NHE-4
                                Is for the 2110i/2110e
  and
                                NHK-1XA
                                Is for the 2140/Nokia Orange/
                                E-plus in Germany

4.4 How can I find out my IMEI?

Firstly I better start by telling you what an IMEI is. It's the Electronic Serial Number used in Digital Phones. IMEI standards for "International Mobile Equipment Identity". It's the Digital eqivelent to the ESN (Electronic Serial Number) for analog phones. So the stories you have heard about getting a new SIM for a digital phone and then it becomes basically a new phone is not quite true. It is up to the network provider to use the IMEI's. Some do, some don't.

It is in the GSM specifications that you "should" be able to find out the IMEI on any GSM phone by doing :

Enter : *#06#

Press (C) when you are finished.

This will display the IMEI. When I say should work, I know that it will work on Nokia's, Ericssons. I also know that it will NOT work on Motorola Flares. If you have a phone (Except a Nokia), try this code and e-mail what happeneds.

4.5 How can I find out when my phone was manufactured?

To find out when your Nokia 2110e/2110i was manufactured,
This will NOT work on the original 2110. I don't know of any eqivalent code
  for it.

        Enter : *#3283#
                (3283 = DATE)

To understand the four digits the phone returns you first have to look at
the last 2 digits. That is the year the phone was manufactured.

1995 "95" phones. The Manufacture date was in the format of MMYY
MM = Month Number Eg 06 for June
YY = Short Year Eg 95 for 1995

1996 "96" phones. The Manufacture date was in the format of WWYY
WW = The week of the year number
YY = Short Year Eg 96 for 1996

Therefor 1096 would mean the 10th week of 1996, someday between
  March 3 and 9 inclusive.
