If the coming economic crash doesn't teach libertarian ideologists that unregulated markets are downright crazy, then nothing will.

$100 says they will pass a bailout before February.

I have to say, it's been a long time since I've actually been happy watching the news. I'll enjoy it while I can.

$1,000,000 says this is the national crisis that will allow Bush to stay in office for a mandatory minimum of 6 months (PD-51 or something like that... one of the "PD"s). Even if that does not happen, we still have McCain winning due to the fact that no party has ever lost during a war/crisis. McCain will die, and Palin will puppet around a la the posters of Big Brother in '1984' (Same as how Bush does now, and how McCain will IF he continues to live).

The troops that are conveniently being brought home in a few days will be spread across metropolitan areas to work along side the police officers (don't believe me? they were training here in Indianapolis on a "what if" scenario back in June).

We will continue to lose more and more freedoms, voting will be eliminated, passports and id's with rfid's in them will be mandatory. All transactions must be made with your id (making the black market impossible). The Federal Reserve's plan is going into full effect.

Wasn't it the decades of artificially low interest rates and forcing banks to give loans to people who couldn't pay them back what caused this whole mess?

Forced? Don't try and pull this nonsense (http://www.totse.com/community/showthread.php?t=2162015) here.

The dark side is strong with this one.

IMO this is a good thing. Throwing $700 BILLION at this problem is not going to solve anything, especially since Congress was basically being told "Give us this money, we don't have to tell you how we're gonna spend it." Fuck that, the blank check days need to end.

$5 says the US economy will bounce back to somewhere near its state last year by the end of 2009 and we would all be laughing at how we were so paranoid
