Seriously though, I agree with him. I doubt this has anything to do with race, it's not like white working class people aren't losing jobs too, but environmentalists seem to be becoming increasingly apathetic and uncaring towards the poor. Not everyone works in a classy urban office, that doesn't do anything pollution, industrious, or useful for that matter. In the same sense, not everyone can afford to buy a new hybrid. It's easy to complain about people driving old, polluting cars when you have plenty. Do you honestly think people want to drive older automobiles? Maybe they just can't afford anything better.

But I agree that there's no reason why we should need so much shit. Our whole economy is measured by how much new stuff we produce and buy. We're urged to always produce more houses, more cars, more babies. It's a fucked up system and it can't be sustained forever.
