To use these diagrams, wire pins with the same names to each other. For example, the Transmit Signal on the radio connector is wired to the Transmit Signal on the TNC connector. Pins are labeled with the descriptive names used in Chapter 5 of the book What is your TNC doing? and in the article Which Jack for HF Radio-to-TNC Cables? Manufacturers have been known to change their usage of pins, you should compare these diagrams with the product's manual. Damage may occur if wrong connections are made.

If your radio/TNC is not listed, you may find it useful to read Chapter 5, TNC to Radio Wiring and Adjustments, from the book What is your TNC doing? Many manufacturers use alternate names for their pin descriptions. Some of these names appear in Chapter 5 as well as descriptions of the pin functions, which may provide insight to interpreting the descriptions given in radio and TNC manuals.
